Gone Too Long!

Fgcu 015

This, my final semester, is drawing near its end. I have neglected my garden, lawn, family, and friends through much of this semester. Once the finals conclude next week, I hope to return to some sense of normalcy. Over the last four and a half years I’ve met and become friends with a few like minded people. Most of them are much younger than myself. To see young people excited about nature and finding solutions to feeding the hungry makes me optimistic about our future. Unfortunately, they seem to be the exception, not the norm.

I believe we can do more with less, live in harmony with our surroundings, and help each other get through this train wreck called life. Even in cities and suburbs growing healthy food and ornaments is possible.  Food crops feed our bodies, where as flowers and fragrant plants can ease stress and enhance overall well-being.

I am learning more about the reality of human nature than my academics. Perhaps that’s intended, or perhaps it’s being in the right place at the right time. Either way I’m happy with the end result. Time to stop studying and start living again. I will continue to learn, just not be as dependent on a school setting to do so.
