When it Rains

When it rains we all make decisions about how to handle it.

From a literal standpoint, that is water falling from the sky, it can mean so many different things to many different people. To a farmer facing drought conditions it is a blessing. To a fisherman miles from his dock it is an inconvenience. To a homeowner with clothes on the line it is a frustration. For a child without a care it is an opportunity to enjoy stomping through a puddle and pointing to a beautiful rainbow, courtesy of GOD ALMIGHTY. For a pet it can be an excuse to cuddle with loving caretakers or just lay around because it can.

From a figurative standpoint, that is life’s hiccups, these too are different for each individual. For those without jobs every day with no luck in their job search is disappointing. For those struggling to feed and shelter their children any unexpected expense means more heartache. For the not so young experiencing a medical issue means another set of bills to worry about paying. For a nation faced with fierce fighting overseas and uncertain economics at home one more problem like an embassy bombing or banking scandal can push citizens to vote out of desperation for a candidate that isn’t truthfully interested in the overall good of the nations people.

Today it literally rained on my laundry. Last week a family member experienced a medical emergency that will not be inexpensive or easily recovered from. I have searched for a job without any luck for a very long time now. Our nation is facing a very difficult election cycle in November in which there are no clear best choices. I have my opinions about the right people for the positions, but this isn’t intended to be a political blog.

I have been:

the farmer

the fisherman

the homeowner

the child

Of all the things I could be, I really miss that child who wasn’t afraid of the rain. Life shouldn’t be scary. Life should be an adventure.

I won’t give up on my dreams. If you are reading this post, don’t quit fighting the good fight. GOD will reward us on the other side.

I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but if I wake up, it’s another chance to seek out and stomp in a puddle!

Labor Day Misunderstandings

Image

Today was Labor Day! The day we all are supposed enjoy the benefits that labor unions have gained for us all. Some people don’t know what labor day is all about, in fact many just see it as another day off. In all honesty I doubt everything unions do is for the good of all people.

Unless America as a whole starts to concentrate on basic education and push for extended education, we will be just like Rome, Greece, and the ancient Egyptians. Doomed to fail because we are not willing to accept that what was ahead of the curve yesterday is actually yesterday’s news. America’s performance on student test rate extremely low compared other developed or developing countries.

If we can convince our youngsters to read and study, instead of play video games and watch videos on you-tube, we might have a chance of survival. Just because we are born, or became, American citizens doesn’t mean we are guaranteed success. America is not the magnet for world talent it once was, talented people now view other countries as better places to advance.

Do I think children should stop doing anything fun? NO.

Life can suck, or life can be great!

Make your life and the life of your children as good as possible.
